I can't believe how expensive paperback books are nowadays. Places like Waterstones and WHSmith do hold offers, but they're not that brilliant. Offers such as 'buy one get one half price' and 'three for two' are better than nothing I suppose.
Now that I work at a library, I don't buy so many books. I read the latest books that come in, and if I really like one, I might buy it afterwards, particularly if it's by a favourite author of mine. If I do buy a book, it's usually from somewhere like Tesco or Asda, as you can get them for £4 or less, which is much more reasonable than paying full price - £7 or £8 these days.
I suppose I should start thinking like an author. If I have a book published, I'd want people to pay full-price, but from a readers point of view...
