And how to avoid them.

Sorry, everyone will be sick of me pushing this book but it's soooo good. I actually got 2 copies of The 38 Most Common Fiction Writing Mistakes by Jack M. Bickham (one of which I've put up as a competition prize) for Xmas and I can't recommend it highly enough! It has totally changed the way I look at my writing - for the better I hope! As you know I also sell books so have come across numerous 'how to' books before but none like this. Simple, short chapters cut through all the dross and tell you what might be missing from your work and what could be present and has to go! The author doesn't mess about I tell you.

Anyway, had to get that off my chest - if you fancy buying it on Amazon then click on the link above - you can get a 2nd hand copy for less than £2 but P&P might be up to £2.75 so be careful.

Check it out > http://www.amazon.co.uk/Most-Common-Fic ... 073&sr=1-1

Thanks

RG

You spotted it Richard (I think). I guess it is a guide to common mistakes in fiction writing and not a guide to writing mistakes in common fiction.
"38 most common fiction writing mistakes" - publisher's title - split infinitive.
"38 most common mistakes in fiction writing" Richard's version - no split.

Is the split infinitive one of the 38?

I would have liked two more common mistakes because I like round numbers!

Then you leave us with a dilema: to buy and then enter the competition in the hope of not winning - or - to enter and not buy in the hope of winning. Damn!
Must have it though, one way or another.

Graham
