A cool way to overcome writer's block is to go to www.google.com. Click for where it says "Images" at the top. Type in a random word and hit enter. This will pull up a bunch of different images. Pick one of the images to write about. Start your timer for 1 minute and begin writing nonstop. No matter what you do, do not stop writing. This is a good exercise to free your mind from whatever it's worrying about and get into a more creative state. Enjoy |

I use a 'similar', idea, although I must admit I usually just 'write' first thing in the morning and everything just seems to fall into place. Anyway to overcome the 'struggle', I don't like to call it writers block because that seems to empower it as a thought, a bit like stage fright. Just think that you are going into a time machine. Open the door and walk in, best to keep it all blank walls roof, floor etc, not like Dr Who. Then think of the destination you want to go to, is it now, in the future, past, this planet, etc, then think of the people you wish to meet, or not meet. Then think of why you want to go............click your desk stapler (or similar object) to make a click sound (this is switching on your time machine) and off you go. |

Wow I like the sound of all of that. It certainly throws a different slant on things. MT |
